Gallbladder surgery is a surgical procedure that usually includes the removal of the gallbladder. This is generally due to gallstones, inflammation or other gallbladder problems. Surgery is often named as a “cholecystectomy.” It can be performed by open surgery or laparoscopic methods.
Laparoscopic gallbladder surgery is a minimally invasive surgical procedure including the removal of the gallbladder. This procedure is often named as “Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy”. The laparoscopic technique is performed via small incisions made in the abdominal area with the help of a camera and surgical instruments.
The surgeon approaches the internal organs through a monitor and removes the gallbladder. Laparoscopic gallbladder surgery is less invasive compared to open surgery and hence ensures advantages i.e. smaller scars, less pain, less blood loss, and a rapid healing process. In most cases, this technique is preferred in order for the treatment of issues such as gallstones or gallbladder inflammation.
